I am totally with you on that one. Living in ChCh with the recent seismic activity has placed a bit more focus of *things that can topple over* as well. So I have my work cut out for me. Yes, the speakers are well over 1m tall and pretty heavy. I don't think there is any way a toddler could pull them over before they are big enough to be reasoned with.

Thanks for your comments, it is good to hear I am not being to cavalier about this!

Assuming you own the place = I would go with in ceiling speakers & a sub.

Easy to wire, out of sight, better sound per dollar than satellites & great selling point for the house later on.

Pack the Paradigms away for a year or 3 until kids are reasonable, then bring them back out

Unfortunately ceiling speakers are not an option - there is no roof cavity above the lounge and I didn't pre-wire up there.

Well then....  ummm.....

Depending on whats on the other side of the wall you could do in-wall speakers for the same reasons

Also not a possibility unfortunately - there are cupboards and my HWC cylinder right where the center and right would need to go :(.

Cheers @illicit - appreciate the suggestions!

Had another go at convincing the wife last night that the floorstanders would be safe...didn't go well.
