I downloaded the Rugby, Neighbours and Batman streams and I can't play any of them using the PCH. It's not just an audio problem (which I expect) - nothing. I tried reading the files using SMB and http and have the same results.

So if you're a PCH owner just wondering what results you have gotten?

Thanks

Larry

THe only way I have been able to even see them (no audio) is to run tsremuxer against them and output a .m2ts file. Then they play fine (albeit with no audio). Some of the other HD streams out there which don't have the LATM audio I can do the same thing and get both audio and video (viz. the Beyonce video, Robin Hood and a football match called premiere.ts)

As I have noted and I think sub also has, cute device and reasonably flexible. But it doesn't meet my main needs which is to play the DVB-T broadcasts (ideally with audio!). But somebody suggested that it plays H.264/AC-3 files encapsulated in the mkv container well which I hadn't tried up till now and it does do that.

Now could be my own setup but playing avi files across a network using a http server (like Syabas MyiHome) I can't go backwards in the file whereas the PS3 playing files streamed with Tversity can do that. Also (could be my not reading the docs properly) it doesn't seem to remember the last point you paused or stopped a video so when you go to play it again, it always seems to start at the beginning which is a nuisance.

As usual YMMV and you might find it great for your needs. It's a bargain though at $280 for a HD media player.

I have had my PCH for about a month now. Previously had an MG35.

I love it. It is much more stable with no stuttering or pauses as I used to get with the MG35.

Now just trying to find a way to transcode the AAC LATM audio into something the PCH can play. Anyone on here have any tips. The AC3 on TV1 and TV2 worked fine until a bozo at TVNZ decided to turn it off to give a little more bandwidth to the video. TV3 are running AC3 but don't duplicate the left and right of the normal audio onto the AC3 when there is no 5.1 on the tape.

Also anyone found any form of mpeg editor that will handle the H264 of our DTT

1. Can you actually play the DVB-T files with no audio with your PCH? I can't unless I transcode them to MPEG2- Transport
2. The audio is a pain. The only codec out there is the Monogram one and I don't think it was written as a true DirectShow filter that any app could use. Ideally somebody could take the source code (it is open source) and incorporate it into FFDShow. That would help

I can demux the audio but don't know of any app (like ffmpeg or besweet) that can transcode the AAC audio to something more common

Oops Finger trouble

Hi Larry

What do you use to transcode to Mpeg2. I have tried several progs including and they won't look at it, usually crash. However video is no problem. I can either record the complete trasnport strean using TSReader and then use the other nifty feature of the PCH (if you have the latest firmware) and switch between the PIDS using the angle key, or just record a single programme using GBPVR or DBViewer. Either way video is no problem.

The Monogram decoder I have had no success in building a graph for it. It does work however if you play the files with GBPVR. VLC player will also play the files with audio using the Monogram decoder.

I believe Graham from GBPVR is trying to convince Popcorn to include AAC LATM capability in a future firmware.

About to start exploring mencoder and mplayer

Hi Wayne

I shouldn't have used the full terms!  What I did was transcode the video to .m2ts format using Tsremuxer. That creates a file that the PCH can play albeit with no audio.

Are you saying you can play the files with no transcoding but with no audio? What firmware are you using?

Syabas are looking at the AAC-HE LATM format but the problem is the Sigma chipset used doesn't natively support this format so they have to write code to do it. That's not eactly on their high priority list given it's just for NZ and Norway!

I haven't been able to get of the test files to play on my PC with audio even though I have the Monogram codec installed. That is in gbpvr and VLC. Might try again.

I haven't installed my HVR-3000 yet so I haven't been able to get production broadcasts recorded.

Larry
