Look: This is madness. What happens when you want to record on one stb but not the other? What if you've got multiroom setup with IR extenders and STB x2 in a central location? How will the remote know which STB to record to? My HDI coming next Wednesday...not sure if I want it with this problem. Any ideas for a workaround?
Not sure what IR extenders you are using, but one I had used in the past was fairly low powered (at the relay end where it sent to receiving device eg MySky). So long as there was a divider between devices, eg on separate shelves, card between them etc, the IR was not strong enough to bounce and effect other device.
Not sure if causing an issue for a larger population would be better in supporting the minority of users trying to put the same device in same location.

Yeah, but if the signal is the same and it goes to both boxes, it makes no difference if there is a divider between the boxes. In IR it generally makes no difference having multiple emmiters anyway, it's when you have more than one receiver that you run into trouble.

A solution might be an IR router but that couldt get expensive. Having the boxes in the same room/closet isn't the issue either. It is having them in the same IR distribution system.

Finally someone understands. Its not about having a box for each TV, its about being able to view/record/delete 320GB of storage from ANY tv around the house without interfering with the SD box.

BadMac: I have sky piped around the house and have bought 2 additional mysky remotes so we don't "lose" the one from the main room as we search the kids lounge for it.  If they had changed the frequency/codes for HDi then my extra remotes would be useless, so I am glad they kept it the same. Thanks Sky, at least 1 happy customer.

And by the way "Look", I don't know you and you don't know me, so what gives you the right to call me a tosser. I worked very hard and rewarded myself with an affordable performance car.  Please keep immature comments to yourself, you never know who you are offending and when you might want their help in the future.

BadMac, I was not calling you a tosser.  I was responding to Clevdon's joke about material possesions. I had no idea who you are or what you drive. I still don't. If you're offended I apologise but how could I know? Politely suggest you read the thread before launching into me.

No worries. Moving on.

As I suspected looks like there is no fix for the one remote changing the signal on both boxes at the same time. Obviously people have different set ups with the decoders in different rooms in which case it is not an issue. In my case I have the two boxes together upstairs, both units feeding a projector upstairs and a tv downstairs. I have a Dick Smith IR transmitter/extender so that I can change the channel from downtairs. The only solution appears to be putting some sort of screen in front of the infrared window on whichever box I don't want to change the chanel on - a MAJOR, MAJOR pain in the @$#%!. I think I will ask Sky to swap the old MySky unit  back to a standard non-recording model. Dissappointing.

Malpaso if you look back through the thread 'Skytech" suggests buying a converter to alter IR frequency. Worth investigating don't you think? (as long as the HSV Holden guy isn't the NZ agent ) little joke.

Anyone know why the All Blacks Vs South Africa game tomorrow night isn't listed as HD? Doesn't South Africa have HD capable cameras or something?

Can someone please help me out here, I had my old mysky replaced with HDI but now I see a $15 extra charge per month on my bill for HDi rental? I thought it was a straight swap and no rental charge?? Can someone confirm this before I yell at sky??

Not a straight swap. You should have paid $49 to the installer.

But that is all you should have been charged.  You need to confirm with Sky that you already had a MySky.  Did you get the multiroom for the promotional deal?  They should be able to explain every item on your bill.

just a heads up, do double check your bills.  I didn't get the $25 deduction until I chased it up with their accounts department.

Malpaso, I've successfully converted IR to RF in the MyskyHDi remote so can now run two boxes side by side, one on IR the other RF. They don't affect each other. Works a treat all round the house. PM me if you want details.

Just watching the HDi recording of AB match tonight. Is it me, or is this compressed! Has a look like a heavily compressed video with patchy areas in large colour spaces with little contrast (eg the field, signage etc).  Not really what your would expect for HD.

I would have settled just to see the game.... I have My Sky Hdi and I set it to record the game on Sky Sport1 and 'Chuck' on TV2. The plan was to sit down later in the evening to enjoy the game.
Guess what, the decoder froze and I had to reset it and lost both recordings. Not the first time it's happened.
I am left with the feeling that I can not trust My Ski to record things with out checking to see if it is working.
How on earth like the tv advert shows, you could go on holiday for two weeks knowing that everything is getting recorded when the odds are it woud freeze. Probably within the first few days, making it impossible to record all the rest of the days.. sigh...

Looks like we won't be relying on ours until the big update comes later on.
