Can anyone tell me the correct way to link these 3 devices to get 4K and 5.1 sound?

The Shield has one HDMI output.

The TV has HDMI1, HDMI2 (ARC) and HDMI3

The Home theater system has HDMI1, HDMI2 and To TV

The only way I can get Netflix to play in 4K/5.1 is to plug the Shield into the Home Theater and then out to the TV, then the TV Netflix app does both but the Shield Netflix app does neither.

If I plug the Shield into the TV and the Home Theater system into the TV via ARC, then both Netflix apps will play in 4K but no 5.1 sound.

The aim is to get the Shield to output 4K/5.1 from its Netflix app and also 5.1 from the Kodi app.

Thanks.;

How old is the LG home theatre? What model?

What is the model of the TV? What port are you connected to?

The LG home theater is model BH9540TW and the TV is about 2 years old, not sure at this stage of the model but its 4K.

There's not a lot of information on-line on that home theatre set-up but most likely it's not capable of 4K pass through. And the TV probably doesn't pass audio from one HDMI input back down the ARC channel.

Best bet is probably Shield TV direct to TV for 4K then Optical audio from TV to home theatre system.
