I picked up a 55" Veon 4K TV (V55UHDS) for $799 last year to get ready for a 4K console that I knew would come out eventually.

Fast forward to yesterday when I purchased an Xbox One X, took it home and connected it to HDMI port 4 (2.0) which says in the manual displays 4k at 60fps.

The display flicks back and forth and never stays at the resolution.

Have read some forums and can see similar issues with the Xbox One S and curious to see if anyone found a resolution? I'm guessing it's done to something not being supported on the TV but then why say it's 4K if it can't output 4K.

I took the TV back to Warehouse today and they are sending it off for repair but who knows what will happen.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

It may be that your TV may only offer 4K resolution, but not UHD colour support like the XBox OneX does.


Change your video settings on the XBox so it doesn't try to output colour to match the expanded colour settings that the TV can't handle.




Also, the HDMI cable may not be up to the task.

Use the supplied HDMI cable that came with Xbox to connect to TV. Try changing colour option to 8bit instead of 10bit under video options on Xbox

Do whatever you want to do man.

I am using the cable that came with the Xbox One X and I've tried several other HDMI cables.

Only is 8bit option for the colour options.

Have a look and see what the Xbox says under


Settings>Display and Output>Video Output>Advance Settings>4K TV Details


There you should see ticks and crosses for what is and not supported by the TV.  I have read for some TV's certain HDMi ports on the TV's are fully enabled, and others may not be, like the port spec or something. 


simple logic.

Thanks for the replies folks.

When I go to 4K TV Details everything is ticked except for HDR and 3D.

I've tried to enable that other setting under 4K which says it helps with 4K but same issue.

Hopefully I get a full refund from Warehouse and will just invest in a better TV.

Can you let me know how you get on returning this tv? I have the same issues with my ps4 pro, and. Always used hdmi 4

Can you force the HDMI port to HDMI 2.0. I know some brands have HDMI Auto detect, and if the HDMI port doesn't handshake properly, it will drop to 1.4 HDMI.  If there is a setting on your TV, force HDMI 2.0 ?


Don't own a Veon, tempted but I am looking for a 4K TV with HDR, which Veon don't have yet :(

I believe those veons from last year only deal with HDMI 1.4, which does 4k30hz at best.

The manual states hdmi 2.0 so hopefully a fault with the unit.

Hopefully hear something back in next few days about how the repair is going.

Will report back when I get an update.

My bad it's not HDMI they have issues with but hdcp 2.2, does the Xbox require that?

Thought I would update you all.

Warehouse sent Veon TV off for repair, they replaced the main board so thought they found the problem but no they just must do that with everything!

They didn't test anything after, I collected the TV, back home, hooked it up and exact same problem.

Back to Warehouse and got a full refund.

Just bought a Panasonic TH55EX600Z from Magnets Benrow.

Got the guy down to $1300 so pretty happy and best of all is that all the boxes are now ticked under 4K on the Xbox One X.
