Have you switched off fast boot? have you formatted USB drive to fat32? have you used service port? have you unplugged tv from power? hold power button and plug TV on.

Yes, I have done all of them, but it seems only doing a normal boot even I have hold the power button. Now I'm doing a factory reset, and then try again.

Ahh, it turns out I was using a usb card reader with a TF card, which doesn't work for the TV update. The update runs well after I use an actual USB stick.

I have a Samsung bottom of the range TV (6000 series) and a TCL 65NUS

I have been noticing that in HDR10 mode the TCL colours become washed out. THere is no Saturation setting that works - either oversaturating something on the screen while everything else is washed out, or washed out.

Any 65" X4US owners here? A mate is offering a less than a year old one for around $1500. Is this a good deal or am I better off with something else. Am considering the LG UK7500 for less than 2K brand new.

Well I have a 65 NUS, not sure if it's the same as the X4US - is that the QLED one?

On the NUS everything is amazing apart from 2 things

-takes forever load Android OS

- HDR colour is very washed out for some reason.

Other than that it's very good.

Do you have instant power, or whatever it's called, ON? Mine takes 2 seconds to power up.

and HDR content is good. I watched only hand full of 4k movies, but all of them where amazing.

There're updates v511 and v519 on the interwebs if anyone keen. I'm on v509.

Yes but it stopped working after a month, now it will do the full power cycle on most of the time even with instant on enabled.

I think I'm a little behind the times with developments for my TCL 55C2US.

The 'About' section shows 'version 7'. Is that the Android number?

It also says 'Kernel Version 3.10.79'. Not sure what that means.

Reading elsewhere about TCL updates, it seems that Android 8 (Oreo?) is available, or will be soon.

Is this so? And if so, is it useful? I love my instant start and would hate to lose it.

android 8 is available for almost a year now.

on my last update v534, instant start is not working most of the time :( but does not bother me. Once i'm home, TV is on, i can wait for 30-60 secs

Thanks. Are there any benefits from running 8?

Sure. Better and faster ui.
More tv friendly I'd say.

My tcl tv (E17NUS) has been fine since i got ota update to version 373(android 7) and been tempted to update to oreo (android 8) as people say its smooth and better laid out but only problem is cant read ntfs files as still keep checking whirlpool forums. I've never been able to get instant on working properly, a few times has worked so just leave on normal boot and hope sometime it sorts out. When i have time will check how to update to oreo with the option of going back to nougat which people said they have done.

Okay, so 8 is available. But how can I get it? I tried clicking 'Update' in the TV menu but it says 'not available'.

Doesn't it work online?
