Does the Mi box stream files from local storage?

I currently have a WDTV Live and Synology Diskstation connected via ethernet cables via my router. I'm guessing I can't substitute a Mi box for the WDTV Live and there is no ethernet on the Mi box?

I used to use the WDTV via wifi, but buffering was an issue, so I had to move to ethernet. I suspect a ethernet usb dongle/adapter would re-introduce the buffering risk?

Local streaming aside, the significant majority of our watching is Netflix/Lightbox/Google play movies. If I have an android TV already with apps for these, then there is little extra to gain for me from adding in a Mi Box?

I bought a ugreen micro USB to Ethernet adapter for my first gen chromecast and can vouch that it’s an excellent device.

BTW does the mibox support the NZ (i.e. non US) Amazon Prime app?

I also have a USB adapter and it streams fine from my UnRAID server over Cat5.

The wifi on it is actually pretty good as well.

@dafman, @reven I have no buffering issues on my mibox conencted to 5Gh WIFI (content from NAS or PC).

I'm playing full-hd movies locally from plex + kodi sometimes for sports. I have not tried 4k videos on it.

In regards to the Mi Box, does it support HDR content from Netflix?

I'm a very big fan of the Vero 4K. I've had Android boxes before, and they sucked.

Especially the support is astonishing. Also, the remote is superb.

The only downside is that there aren't a lot of apps for 3rd party services compared to what's available on the web; like TV on-demand.
To watch things from a USB drive / NAS it's amazing.

I still consider my FireTV to be the best money I've ever spent on hardware for my home theatre. Streams Plex from my home PC flawlessly.

My latest model shield tv is a poor alternative in most cases, though more open, so I can watch google play movies from it.
