Greetings all

Apologies in advance, but in the last month i have had a Graphics card kark it, a hard drive begin dying, a few other appliances die and unexpected bills crop up so my budget is tighter than a ducks posterior

OK part way through watching something yesterday the sound died on my TV, the TV is about 5-6 years old, I turned it off and on again and sound came back, but this morning when i sat down to watch a nice relaxing murder, and no sound, I fiddled with settings etc, i plugged headphones in to the headphone port, no sound there either.

So in summary

Picture is Fine

Most of what i watch comes from my old MagicTV box via HDMI cable to the TV, ( replaced cable still no sound)

Tried the Apple TV No sound

Switched the TV to the aerial input (No Sound)

Plugged headphones into the earphones port on the TV no sound

And no mute isn't on

So i am assuming the sound board is poked?

and that the cost to repair is going to be dear as it is out side of warranty by a few years

So would i just be better off buying a cheap TV like this

43 inch for $290

Which seems to have better specs than my current TV, or the

40 inch for $280

Which to be honest looks marginally better specced as far as budget boxes go, but will i notice 3 inches less (no dodgy comments)

Any input would be appreciated

Have you tried the optical out of the TV?
If the fault is in the sound output the line out may possibly work.
do you have an amp to try it with?

Pretty sure there is no optical out, infact I didn't, see any outputs on it

Mind you it was the most budget when I bought it

Does the MagicTV box have a headphone jack or RCA audio out jack that you can test and connect to a speaker if you have one.

We brought a bunch of Veon for work and several have had random sound drop outs/temporary deaths. Try playing under options with HDMI CEC. This usually turns it back on in ours. Can happen after being on streaming services or after muting we have found thru trial and error.
