dupka: Just to add more feedback - I've also experienced the new box locking, while it's recording. Both times it was while two channels were recording and I was viewing something stored. Just locked the box and it was no use hitting the front panel/remote on/off button. Had to reboot the box as per old MySky, and both programmes being recorded at the time failed. I had to do this every month or so on the old box, so I hope it doesn't continue at this rate on the new.

My installer also said not to touch the reset button under the front cover where the card is. He said it will delete everything and clear the initial download setup. Anyone know if this is true?

Same here (again). Two channels recording and either watching a third or chaseplaying one of the recording channels, especially if you try to FF/Rew. You can go ahead and press the red button, it's the same as pressing select+goback. Any recordings in progress fail and only offer the delete option. Everything else on the drive stays including recordings, bookings, etc.

Don't be surprised if a firmware upgrade (?) comes out soon severely restricting options available when recording two channels.

P.S.:- My installer actually showed me the reset button and what it does...

Edit: The soft reset buttons are select+goback. I incorrectly wrote select+guide in the original post.Smile

The NRL playing right now is probably the best I have seen of all HD feeds. Absolutely amazing, can see the blades of grass on the wide long shots.

Agree about the Eels/Knights game last night - looked great. Was funny to watch the replays which seemed to be back in SD? Looked that way to me anyway.

Typical eh - two different installers and two different stories. So what's the difference between the small red button reset and the standard soft reset?

I had the same problem again last night and decided just to pull the power out and both shows failed the same as performing a soft reset. Getting a bit annoying.

LOL... well as there are no more games until the weekend... the picture's crap, so don't worry!Wink

I also mainly got the HD for the league and rugby, so it's well worth the wait mate, even if the box is acting weird from time to time. Recommend when you get it installed and are recording an HD leagure match, not to record something else and rewind/fast forward at the same time. The last thing you want is your recording to fail (especially when you're watching Manly win the grand final!)

I dont know if anyone watched the Sharks v Dragons on the weekend, but I watched it last night and the quality was almost twice as good before I got mysky hdi installed. Before I could see like noise around players when they were moving and the quality was blurry and looked compressed, but the replay last night on SS2 was so much better on the same channel. So I think the SD feeds look better on SS1 and 2 for some reason as if they are not compressed.

the Monday Night League game looked really really nice.  That is the only game from Australia filmed in HD.

I think the MPEG4 compression used on those channels, plus the higher res (albeit upscaled) makes even SD stuff look nicer.

Well I got my new HD MySKY box yesterday, and I thought the Wellington/North Harbour game looked fantasic - and a good result!

Actually at first it looks quite bizarre because it's so clear - it's like looking at a photo.

Only rugby issue is that a high ball looks jittery - is this the interlacing or something else (my TV is PY800).

Cheers

I have a 50PY800 and the high ball looks jittery as well, but it looked the same before we got MySkyHDi. Only looks that way at the top of its speed or arc, not all the way through the kick. I was thinking it was the wording / graphics on the ball itself that might contribute, has anyone else noticed it on another brand HDTV, would be interested to know. But if that is the only glitch - who cares - my picture looks fantastic as well.

I have noticed a difference in the quality of the HD movies on Sky. For example the Zodiac looked really good (as good as when I saw it on bluray), yet the Persuit of Happiness, Flight 93 and the Cable Guy doesn't look that good. It looks a step up from SD from when they are played on Sky Movies 2, but still not the quality you would expect from HD. The Marsh was ok last night and Stranger than Fiction was good too. Does anyone else notice the difference or is it just me?

Yes I do notice it too, you're not going mad:). I believe the difference in quality is down to a couple of things; the quality of the source material and how the movie was transcoded/encoded.

Anyone care to comment and confirm it's not just us two?
