HDi installed today. A couple of problems already.

Rapallo AV 4x2 HDMI matrix switch. Passes signal ok though when you switch to another input and back again you get a green screen until the HDI is put in and out of standby which brings the signal up instantly. As standby cancels pause-play this a functional issue.

Also my box has only one tuner active. If recording a channel, all other channels show " no signal due to atmospheric...." . Anyone else had this?

Just one Satellite connection, the HDi has a multi-switch. I'll sort it out today with Sky.

By the way, the HDMI switch problem doesn't occur with all displays, only my Panasonic LCD, though the display connects to the HDi fine by itself...just HDMI nuiances I guess.

Our My SkyHDi is working mint other than we can't get Teletext, which we used to by selecting TV1 on our MySky 1 and then the text button on TV remote, tried a few other channels but no joy, and suggestions before I ring Sky ?

I am sure I read in the solving problems area of the manual that teletext is not supported through HDMI or HD Component connection.

Yes your right, just checked the manual online and thats what it says, I suppose I have to view it in the other room on MySky1 instead - if that's the only thing I have to worry about then I am still overall, extremely happy.

Did not realise that people still used teletext...  (aside from pubs/bars etc)
Never really got into it, was clumsy slow, ugly, and hard to read.

Defiant: Using Optical cable for sound, my volume or mute on remote dosnt work at all.
Sure that was the case for MySky1 also.
Consider it a line out... let the receiver perform the volume control.

Installation yesterday. Also getting a church like echo effect from receiver on some shows here..

Might have been when you last looked, but I use it everyday at 5.30am after I get up to catch all the latest national and international news, sport and weather before I leave for work, takes about 6 or 7 min's to check all those, and the weather forecast is Metservice which is the most accurate ( with my work, good forecasting is important ) With our new Panasonic 50PY800 it has fastext and fullscreen and as fast as you push the buttons the page appears ( much faster than Sky channel selection by miles ), if you want the news, sport and weather fast and when you want it, then teletext is the way to go.

I still cannot see how this can be quicker or easier than clicking on a browser Bookmark bar link that opens multiple tabs, one for MetService (which you customise the layout), your sport portal, and news portal (and also relevant RSS Feeds)
All in the one spot, more information on a single page and automated.

Teletext must still be very popular - they still sell it with nearly every TV still and devote quite a few pages to it in the my new Panasonic 50PY800 TV manual for all the features it has, so I don't think it is history yet. My Laptop takes 12-15 mins depending how long the antivirus and anti spyware download takes as well when I fire it up to be at full speed to be used effectively, I am out the door from the time I get up to I leave in 15 mins, not going to wait around for the computer to be at a speed it is usable, another 10 mins reading and then have to shut it straight down again so I can take it to work ( personally don't like chucking straight in its bag when it still hot and winding down and throwing it in the car ) when it takes 10 seconds to fire up the TV and then get the same information straight off the TV in a much more user freindly way for me. And - no, not going to leave the computer on all night just so to read the news in the morning. Suits my busy schedule very well, might not suit yours but that's the way I do it. PS - your taking this off the original thread, start a new one if you like.

Are you connected by HMDI? My understanding is that teletext is not supported in the HDMI standard.

Teletext??? I gave up on that years ago, it is slow to update news, sports etc and you get much faster updates on the web. Its almost like it was run by a 9 to 5 govt department.
