Hi There!

Does anyone know if the opening ceremony of the olympics 2008 will be shot in HD and put onto SkyHD? If so would some kind soul mind recording it and writing it to DVD or something so I could watch it?

Yeps it's comming HD to NZ and
Nope..  TVNZ won't give Sky a HD feed of it's channels carried by Sky so it's SD for you..

Firstly DVD's are not a high defintion format - you cannot record HD video onto a DVD and play it back in a DVD player.

If you have a PC capable of meeting the requirements for HD playback (fast machine with a 8500GT or greater video card capable of hardware acceleration and appropiate software such as PowerDVD8) then somebody could record the opening with PVR software such as DVBViewer, Media Portal or GB-PVR and record this straight to DVD as a .TS file but this would require around 5GB per hour for recordings.

Secondly SkyHD does not have TVNZ channels in HD, to watch TV1 in HD you need a Freeview|HD box.
