I bought a 42py800az a couple of weeks back and I'm very happy with it.
I'm still tweaking with the setup of channels.

I noticed in the manual that the Display information Banner which appears when you change channels, can show an "event".

The example given is Coronation Street.

I can't find anywhere in the manual which shows how to set this option up.

What I hope to be able to do is flick through the display information banner for each channel to read what was on before changing to that channel.

Any suggestions on how to set it up?

Are you using normal free-to-air television? Or sky/TCL/freeview?

The later can do it for you with the STB remote. I presume that if you want to do it with the free-to-air stuff, that it would be a service not provided. As the data is not sent.

Just using normal free to air at the moment.
Waiting on delivery of the freeview terrestrial box.

The reference in the manual says
"Event information is referred to teletext signal."

I took it to mean that teletext provided the info.

So I was thinking that somehow I need to link the channel to a teletext page.

From Panasonic support

... NZ  broadcasters do not transmit this information in the broadcast signal ...  display banner section of the manual applies to the Australian model, as the manual covers both countries.

Oh well, at least I can stop trying.

Kerokowboy: I bought a 42py800az a couple of weeks back and I'm very happy with it.

The 42py800az was one of the models that I recomended to my brother to look at when he was looking for a HDTV to go with his MySky HDi. It was the model he chose but feels that there is not a lot of difference between the standard channesl and the HD channesl. What is your experience.

I have the same model - Using an ET HD freeview box and the difference is really noticeable. Especially when you flick between Freeview HD and std FTA.

It's been 9 days since the form for the freeview box was sent away.
So the picture is just ordinary
Pretty cool with DVD's but I have an old player so I expect it could be better

9 days .....
