If you want to make use of the 2.1 features like 120Hz 4K then yes, you need a HDMI 2.1 compliant cable.

No, I have a no name brand one from PB tech. Was around $23 from memory. Just look for HDMI 2.1

Currently using the Smart vu box. I like that my tv is coming through the internet as we dont have a dish or aerial. Not sure is the tvs can run apps to do tv through the net?

An Nvidia Shield TV Pro, which TBH I can't recommend at it's price-point, especially so if you aren't streaming local media files. The AI Upscaling seems to be one of the best solutions out there, but absolutely not worth it on that feature alone either. While Nvidia has been "supporting" the STV longer than any TV OEM OS (since 2015!), they are several versions behind on Android TV, ditto for security patches, and their feature support is rubbish.

You most certainly can, but as Jonathan18 said, there is a marked difference in app support between TV OSes. LG is definitely the winner there with good support for all the apps listed. TVNZ and ThreeNow both support live TV streaming on ATV, so I would imagine that is no different on webOS.

If you want anything above the Smart Vu box, I'd recommend the latest Apple TV 4k. Great app support and much nicer to use than most Android TV distros, if you can handle the Apple way of doing things.

What you are looking for is a Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable, @shelford. I'd recommend getting a certified one, otherwise you are rolling the dice on quality on something that is not really that tolerant of low quality.

I have used Dynamix ones before, but they started giving me black screen cut-outs that got worse as time went on. No such issues with the certified Monoprice ones I have used for years now. The Zeskit Maya is a certified UHS one which someone here brought recently.

Some purport to be, like this Belkin one, but I would verify that it has the HDMI seal thingie before spending money on it.

On a side note, I see the 65" Panasonic HZ1000 (2020 model) is $3297 @ JB HiFi, plus free delivery until the 28th. Great way to save $600 if next-gen gaming isn't a use case

Good price,trying to convince a family member looking at the 55" version to stretch to this 65". They arent gamers but watch lots of movies via streaming. Perfect for them. I wonder if it would possibly go even lower for black friday sales at the end of next month?

Thats a very low price and will be limited stock as HZ is on clearance. It won't go much lower IMHO.

If only it was a 2! I would be down there now buying one now! I'll be ready to buy end of November so fingers crossed for a good deal around black Friday.

And if they didn't id be trying for a price match at HN with the brochure in hand.

For the 48" size, the JZ1000 above at $2295 would be my pick, simply for the $100 saving. Features wise, between those two my thoughts would remain the same as the 65" versions discussed a few posts back here, but since the other OEMs have jumped aboard implementing HDMI 2.1, they are pretty much all as good as each other. Only Sony is lagging behind with VRR.

Personally I would spend a bit extra for the 55" version, but YMMV depending on how you are using it, sitting distance etc

Edit: NL had both 48" models above at the same price, but the C1 is listed as sold out.
