Have to say, for the price I'm really impressed. will be my go to recommendation over the mi box as a good cheap Android TV box now.

I agree - I bought one today and plugged into our new LG TV. I thought I would just use it to access the apps that the LG TV doesn't have (Sky Sports Now & Red Bull), but now I think we might use this as our primary interface on the TV.

Mine still remains in the drawer. I guess we all use our boxes a little differently.
The MiBox S, Dish TV SmartVu11 and SmartVU+ A7070 are all read/write enabled for the connected USB drives and SSD.
Read only is a pain for my use.

You can put it into App only mode in settings, or at least you used to be able to do that when I tried last year. It works, but also kills a lot of other functionality as well, which might mean it's not worth doing.

(and I get you, the constant advertising is annoying - and pointless, it hasn't made me watch/buy a single thing)

Thanks however it's already running in Apps Only mode.

I'll check XDA Dev's site...

I looked there also - in this particular case "Services" seems to be a euphemism for "Subscriptions". All uninstalled /disabled.

I find this really annoying since sometimes I am interested in something and it it's from Prime. So I choose it and logon to Prime and then get this cryptic error error 5004. Turns out that the video is not free and has to be bought from the Amazon web site.

Any ideas on how to stop the WiFi connection cutting in and out all the time?

Move the wifi closer to the CC or the CC closer to the wifi?

What distance apart are they?

There is also this sort of device if you were within distance to use an ethernet cable.

I don't know if that one specifically works on the CCWGTV - it *looks* like it should.

Chromecast isn't read only? Or do you mean adding external storage devices?
