I visited a mate over Easter. He lives in a house that was formerly a family crib. He bought it fully furnished including a 1980s Phillips CRT TV . The kind where the tube is off centre in the custom-wood cabinet with all the controls and speaker down one side. It still works apparently. Must be close to 40 years old. Probably made in NZ.

Sounds like a K9 to me, the tuning knobs are in a little push out compartment, which is broken on ours

Sounded familiar to me, and then you said K9 which sealed it. I only recall it because as a kid I though the model number made it sound like a dog. My parents probably got rid of it around 1990?

I've got a 2007/2008 Sony Bravia W Series that just wouldn't die, but was too heavy to wall-mount on my own. In the end I replaced it but it's still going strong at my parent's house. Just incredible life for any appliances, really, especially from a time where people were swearing black and blue that these things would fail after only a couple of years.

I think it was the first model year with the Dual Freeview tuners and it also had a beautiful rich 10 bit panel. The colours were probably a little bit nicer than my X90J. I would gladly have it back if I had a spare lounge or rumpus room.

I also have a Panasonic Plasma which I basically use as a wall heater in my study. So realistically I've had two attempts at replacing that KDL W Sony set on the assumption it would die at some point, but it just wouldn't.

I'm in the Sony fan club. We settle down each night in front of a Sony KLV-32D300A which we bought in November 2007. Sony claimed the D variant had a 10 bit panel. Would love to see some test patterns where they show eight and ten bits for comparison. I doubt I could see much difference. Anyway it still goes.

Our Philips KTV560 was working prior to that, but I wouldn't switch it on now because the power supply would surely blow up.

I have a Samsung 37" in our bedroom. Trying to remember when we got it. It would have been 2006 or 2007. I think 2007. Still going strong.

I have nothing on you lot. 2011 is the oldest TV in our house. A 37 inch TV that is now relegated to duty in the man cave. The other two TVs are 2015 and 2020.

Still glued to my pre-Android Bravia KDL 50W670A. I use a Shield as my streaming device for both local and international TV but I also have satellite and DVB-T. In another room is a Thomson 21DX25EA CRT, with VHS player and other antiques.

The tv my wife and I have in the bedroom is a Sony KDL 32v4000 which we bought in 2009 in London when we moved there. Probably should have just left the TV in London, as I didn't realise how cheap they were until we got home.

2008 I got the slightly larger Sony 40v4000, now does bedroom duties too. Still use it from time to time with my PS3 for PS1 and PS2 games

Got a 2013 Panasonic 50ST60 Plasma in storage and obviously my Lounge TV in the sig below.

Just replaced 2011 59" Plasma - was Samsung flagship back in the day.

But tech sure has moved along - and running it at the same time as the replacement 65 LG C1 OLED - the Samsung loses, by a lot :/

Our daily driver is a 2009 Panasonic Viera TH-P50S10Z plasma. Smarts are provided by the Nvidia Shield. Sound through a Marantz receiver. Picture is still fantastic.

I'm still rocking a Pioneer 50" PDP5000-EX Plasma.

It was pre-Kuro and the world's first 1080p Plasma! Cost me £5,500 ($11,000) way back in 2006.

It survived an excursion from the UK at five years old and is still going strong as the main TV in the living room.

Truly a monitor as it doesn't have a built-in tuner or speakers.

Currently running with a Nvidia Shield and a Denon receiver.

Great to see so many people hanging on to their gear, feels like it's the right thing to do now more than ever.
I'm using a 2010 Sony 40EX400 as my daily driver.
Parents in-law had had problems with their Samsung LCD so we got an extended warranty. Didn't need it, has been faultless.
I had a MagicTV recorder which was also great but died, now I'm using a Mi Box.
Sister in-law needs a TV so might pass it on to her and get a 65", I'm keen to get another Japanese TV.
