Went into Warehouse this morning.  Saw Serenity at $37 and The Island at $23, so got 20% off both of them.  Was really happy to get Serenity since it was the only copy in that store and I would have payed full price for that movie.  Warehouse also had The Dark Knight on special for $30 if anyone is interested.

$30 for the Dark knight is a steal!

I just ordered There Will be Blood, Silent Hill, and 28 Days Later from amazon.co.uk using their 3-for-2 plan. In the end it cost about $37 each dvd (they were 15 pounds each rather than 8-9 as the cheapest ones were). Not too bad a price - I would have paid full price for those ones too. Here's hoping I'll get them in 6 days like some people have been!

Yeah Amazon UK is pretty good with their 3 for 2 sale.  It just keeps going on and they add new titles every now and then. Amazon US  is having a 3 for 2 sale at the moment but the number of titles is very limited and at crap prices.  Plus shipping is cheaper on Amazon UK and they are the same region as NZ.

Yeah, plus, I haven't even been able to find 28 days later in New Zealand (only 28 weeks) so I'm happy :)

Silent Hill only got something like 40% on rotten tomatoes but I loved it's spooky atmosphere when I saw it on a poor divx rip. Some of the horror scenes will probably be significantly more nightmarish in 1080p! (Oh look, yet another movie that I would never have bought if I hadn't watched a pirated copy first!)

Actually, that applies to There Will be Blood too. It looked vaguely interesting, I downloaded the torrent, and liked it so much I bought it...

Just be aware that 28 Days Later is rated as 'coal' in the Blu-Ray picture quality thread on AV Science. Supposedly it was filmed with a digital SD camera and so the BD remaster is fairly bad. May as well stick with the SD DVD.

Ah, damn. Thanks for the link though, I'll make sure I take that info into account next time I buy!

A whole bunch of BR's on Amazon.uk have dropped to 10 and 9 pounds.  Also many are in the buy 3 for 2 sale.  I picked up:

Die Hard
Die Hard 4.0
3:10 to Yuma
Final Fantasy
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind (30th Anniversary Ultimate Edition)
In The Line Of Fire

Was NZ$130 which works out to $21.60 each, so pretty happy.

Well worth checking out to see if anything you like is on sale.

Unfortunately my blu rays still haven't arrived from amazon.co.uk after 3 weeks :( They don't have a tracking number and won't investigate it until April 13 at the earliest...

My theory is that the NZ courier either a) stole it or b) left my package on the front doorstep of my home when I was at work, which they've done before, even though my front door opens right up to the street...

Then again it could just be delayed (apparently some UK mail has been delayed recently).

Bummer.  Amazon UK has been really fast for me.  Once I got an order within 4 days with standard shipping.  Luckily I can send my packages to work as I work at the Waikato University so it just goes into my mail box in the office.

Argh, yeah, I work at Canterbury Uni so I could probably have done that even though I'm only a lowly research assistant/TA :P

Does anyone have a copy or want to sell the Region B Blu-Ray title "BARAKA" I'd like a copy before Easter. Even if someone will let me hire it from them over Easter would be fantastic. It is being released in Australia on April 8th but this maybe too late with delivery time added to receieve before Easter. It will be released in New Zealand here abit later on......

BARAKA (BLU-RAY) NZ RELEASE

Regardless of the odd sale, whats the cheapest place in NZ to buy blu-ray titles?

For example, Quantum of Solace is $49 at Borders. Is there a store that sells blu-rays for less? (i.e. $40-$45)

I don't like buying blu-rays or DVDs from overseas stores as I'm not able to sell them (legally) if I want to in the future (No NZ classification sticker)
