BAD NEWS FOR PHYSICAL MEDIA COLLECTOR'S.

According to The Digital Bits website and several other sites; Disney are to stop producing Physical Media in Australia, which I assume will include New Zealand.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Vol.3 will be the last Physical Media production. Already released titles may be available until the end of 2023. That will be up to the individual retailers. I'll keep a lookout for any clearance deals.

We will, of course still be able to  buy Digital Copies from iTunes, which are usually priced at $NZ24.99 on release, or sign up for a Disney Plus subscription.

The other, more expensive option, is to import media from the US or Europe. Shipping costs can make this option not viable.

I know that streaming is improving at a great rate, and many people are satisfied with the quality that iTunes movies stream on the Apple TV 4K, or the Apple TV app, but I really wasn't expecting a company like Disney to move away from disc based media for a few years yet.

Boo, hiss. Although does "producing" equal "selling", or are they just going to sell US/EU-manufactured discs here?

I'm given to believe that discs will not be sold here. Importing will be the only option. Apparently they have stopped selling physical media in several other regions already. Asia (excluding Japan) and Latin America are affected as well.

Welcome to the Weekly 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Release Schedule For Thursday July 27th.

There is conflicting information on the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse release date in Australia. One source says 6th September, the other 13th September. JBAU  state the 13th, so I will go with that for now.

I am going to include the post# for the individual release information (artwork, specs, etc.) where available. Its just a trial, so I hope it works for everyone. Just click on the link and it should take you to the correct post. Then click on the back arrow to return to the schedule.

Australia & New Zealand release information can be differentiated by prices in Australian or New Zealand dollars..

Individual film artwork and specs will be posted as soon as ALL info is available

Release dates are subject to change.

Films Out Now will be displayed for one week after release.

All prices are quoted from JB Hi-Fi Australia (JBAU) and JB Hi-Fi New Zealand (JBNZ), unless specified.

Tried ordering the Daniel Craig collection and the site says not available to NZ. Any idea why that might be?

It does allow Blade Runner 2049.

I just ordered several titles and I got the same message for Robin Hood (2018) and Mad Max: Fury Road.

Not sure why, but its possible that the warehouse doesn't have them in stock, only at some branches for pick up. That's my best guess.

If anyone has the Mad Max: Fury Road 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray and want to sell it for a reasonable price, please send me a personal message. Cheers

Not for sale but i got my copy in the box with my first 4K UHD Player, the Panasonic DMP-UB900 many years ago which has now been relegated to the MANS room. Been out for a while but still sits in my top 10 all time Demo 4K UHD Films.

Amazon US has Fury Road for a bit less than JB anyway.

I imported a SteelBook from Italy some time ago. It was a 3-Disc Blu-ray combination which included the Black & Chrome Edition. The mask on Immortan Joe's face is embossed. I don't remember what I did with them, but two of the discs are missing. I am trying to locate (at a decent price), the 4K UHD/Blu-ray combination, so that I can insert the discs into the missing slots and add the SteelBook to my 4K Ultra HD display. Several online retailers have it, but the best price so far (including shipping) is about $NZ33 from Sanity in Australia. The item is only $AU15.30 after GST removed, the rest is shipping costs 😒

Prices do look good from some of the international online retailers, but when shipping and exchange rate is added, the cost almost doubles 🙁

The US (Amazon) release is only one disc, doesn't include the Blu-ray.

Was thinking of this -

https://www.amazon.com.au/Mad-Max-Fury-Road/dp/B07C4W4QDX/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2K75JMBR8GJMX&keywords=fury+road+4k&qid=1690501385&sprefix=fury+road+4%2Caps%2C269&sr=8-1

but got my continents wrong, like you do...

Edit - also doing 3 for 2, though obviouly not on Fury Road.
