I have my HVR-2200 working fine with DVB-T and Sky SCART input.

I am stuck with the NZ17xxx Sky card so it looks like I'm hosed for using my own CAM (based on the threads I see here).

I had been considering adding an HVR-3000 for DVB-S, but since I can't see how to make Sky work with the NZ17xxx card, is there a reason to add the HVR-3000?

That is, is there anything else on the satellites that is interesting, and decrypted?

I know that NDSCam didn't like the 17xx cards but it would be interesting to see whether anyone has any luck with NewCS. It seems to use a cache to return requests to clients quicker than NDSCam does which may also get rid of the freezes.

I'm using an HD card but using an infinity card reader which still had intermitent freezes with NDSCam but since going to NewCS it's been incredibly stable.

Even if this doesn't work having a DVB-S card at least means that you can grab EPG for all channels without having to resort to XML grabbers.

That's what I use the DVB-S portion of my HVR-3000 for.  It's quite an expense to go to just for that tho'.  I use it for the EPG in MediaPortal because my HTPC isn't permanently linked to the internet. I don't know if it works the same way in other Media Centre Applications.

LOL, that's what I was thinking!  I've got the XML grabbing pretty stable between a .bat and some Perl scripts I wrote so that doesn't seem worthwhile.

Is anybody watching anything other than Sky/Freeview on DVB-S?

Has anyone resolved the problems of NZ17xx cards?  Possibly with NewCS as Klathman pointed out?
