Hi all,

I'm really new to this and I'm not even sure where the best place to post is so forgive me if I'm wrong.

I have  media center PC running windows 7 (build 7201 x64) and a work PC running Vista x64 on the same home network. I have setup a newcs server on the vista machine (v.1.65), reading my legit S*Y UK card from com1 and on the media PC I have installed Acamd (0.6.0.3) into the plugin directory of DVBViewer (4.1.1.1). My intention is for themedia pc to decode my sky channels using acamd to access the newcs server over my home netowrk. I do not intend to install the server on the media pc nor do I want to share the card anywhere else - just on my home network. I don't want to use acamd as the card reader as I want to add another media pc/extra tuners and will eventually run the newcs server on a separate low-power box (assuming I ever get it working). The system works fine with dragon cam and card so it's just the newcs/acamd bit I'm struggling with.

The newcs server appears to operate correctly (bearing in mind I've never seen a working one!) and shows the output below. Acamd seems to do 'some stuff' but doesn't actually decode anything. The last part of it's debug screen is also below. I can be fairly certain that I've got either the newcs.xml or the acamd cardclient.conf incorrect (or more likely both) but google as I might, I cannot find any exapmples of what they should look like on a system like mine. I would really appreciate it anyone could offer any advice on this particular setup and would really appreciate it if they could share some suitable newcs.xml and cardclient.conf files.

Thanks in anticpation.

When I start newcs theres about a page of stuff that happens, mainly card info and keys I think as the card is initialized, Have you got the autodetect setting in newcs config off?

EDIT: I think the newcs config posted by whereisglenn on page 1 of this post looks ok, maybe try that just change the newcamd section to your setup...

What version of newcs are you running?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply - it's very much appreciated. I cut out someof the acamd monitor info in my last post - I've included the full thing below where I've started DVBViewer (on A FTA channel), activated the acamd plugin and then changed channel to an encrypted one (Disney). It didn't decode the channel and I'm not really sure what I'm looking for in order to solve the problem. When I switched to the Disney channel, the newcs server (v1.65) shows "user neil1 logged in, clent generic" and that's all - again I'm not sure what I should be getting here. Like most things - I'm sure it'll be easier when I've done it correctly for he first time ;)

Thanks again for the help.

ok It seems to be loging into newcs ok but nothing is happening after that? It should start decrypting from that point sending it back to acamd.

When acamd logs onto newcs do you get a message like this:

[ 21:09:44 ] [ Newcamd:14550 ] User User1 logged in, client: Generic

[ 21:09:44 ] [ Newcamd:14550 ] Connection from User1 to not-ready server!

Hi - thanks again forthe reply.

I get the login generic but no 'not ready' message. I've recently tried WinCSC and that seems to work OK with the newcs server I set up so it looks like I'm doing something wron at the acamd end of things. Is there a source of example login lines for acamd anywhere?

Regards

ok the "not-ready server!" would suggest that the cards not being read by newcs so thats good

heres an example of a cardclient.conf

#
# Comment lines can start with # or ;
#
# every client line starts with the client name, followed by some arguments:
# 'hostname' is the name of the server
# 'port' is the port on the server
# 'emm' is a flag to allow EMM transfers to the server
# (0=disabled 1=enabled)
# 'caid' (optional) caid on which this client should work
# 'mask' (optional) mask for caid e.g. caid=1700 mask=FF00 would allow
# anything between 1700 & 17FF.
# Default is 1700 & FF00. If only caid is given mask is FFFF.
# You may give multiple caid/mask values comma separated
# (e.g. 1702,1722,0d0c/ff00).
# 'username' is the login username
# 'password' is the login password
#
# newcamd client
# 'cfgkey' is the config key (28bytes)
#
# radegast client
# No EMM support
#
# gbox client
# UDP localhost only, default ports, No EMM support
#
# gboxn client
# servername, serverport, emm, [caid/mask], serverpassword, pcname, pcport, pcpassword, free text
#
# camd35 client
# UDP protocol
#
newcamd:127.0.0.1:10001:0/XXXX/ffff:username:password:0102030405060708091011121314

Where XXXX is you put your CAid

and also maybe try some different acamd.ini settings heres mine:

[ACamd]
MultiEcm=0
Active=1
NoCheckProvId=0
UseCacheIni=0

WIsh you luck

Thanks again for the replies - it's very much appreciated.

I tried config line and ini settings you suggested but still no luck. I have now moved my newcs server onto a linux box but get exactly the same problems :( WinCSC continues to work perfectly with the newcs server but Acamd won't. As before, the newcs console shows the user logged in but that's all. It's as if Acamd never asks for any keys. With WinCSC, I see lots of key messages on the newcs console - every 6 seconds or so. Nothing at all with Acamd - just logged in generic. With the caid in the Acamd config line as 0961, it doesn't even try to log into the newcs server. If I set it to 0000 it logs in but that's all.

Hopefully someone can advise on what's going wrong here. Failing that, are there any other newcamd clients that will auto-start with DVBViewer (WinCSC doesn't - I have to start it manually which is no good for a HTPC).

Thanks in anticipation.
