Don't know if anyone can help me out here? Up until last night I had been using the EPG from epg.pvr.geek.nz. In another thread I found out about a program called url2file

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=83&topicid=20400&page_no=8#149383

I am using the EPG for both Sky and Freeview in Windows Media Center via BigScreenEPG. This program, BSE can download and use xml files natively however doesn't like zipped files. So I was running URL2file and gunzip to get a current local version of the xml file which I can point BigScreenEPG at quite happily.

What happened last night? Windows 7 64bit happened! It doesn't want me to install url2file so I can't automate the EPG process.

My thoughts were to either find an unzipped version of the EPG, find out why win7 won't install url2file (it complains about needing a 64bit version), perhaps finding another tool like url2file?

I tried, I think it was Haventech, but this EPG didn't have the nice color coding for movies, childrens, news etc

I use WGET CLI (download from: http://www.christopherlewis.com/WGet/wget-1.11.4b.zip) to download the file and 64-bit version of 7-ZIP to extract the file.

This is my batch file:

del listings.xml
D:\WGET\wget http://epg.pvr.geek.nz/epg/listings-freeview.xml.gz
C:\"Program Files"\7-Zip\7z e listings-freeview.xml.gz
del listings-freeview.xml.gz
ren listings-* listings.xml

Thanks I have tried that and it works fine. Haven't had time to get the guide configured in MC yet though.

Made a giant leap backwards however when I tried to do a mediacenter reset via the task manager and now MC refuses to start. I am just in the middle of going back to a restore point hopefully that will work.

The restore point shout work.. guessing you are running Windows 7 x64.. there seems to be a bug that kills MC in the x64 release. Works fine in the 32 bit version.

Yeah thanks the restore point worked fine. I now have a fully working Media Center Laughing

BTW when I was running the Win7 32bit RC7100 version I was getting dropped frames that got worse and worse until it was only a few frames a second. This would only happen after about five to ten minutes of perfect live program. A simple hit of the pause then play a few seconds later would clear it for another ten minutes. It was never seen playing back recorded material. The release 64bit version I have not seen this issue at all so i am extra happy.
