Hiya All,

This might be a silly question, but I am sure someone will be able to give me your thoughs. Do you think it is possible for current/pass movies that have not been filmed in 3D can be reproduced into a 3D format?

I mean they have recreated VHS films onto DVDs & then Blue Ray, or is it not that simple. Would they have to have filmed movie in 3D for it to be reproduced into 3D Blue Ray movie?

Not as simple as converting VHS to DVD - both are flat format 2D, so other than processing for image clarity and clearing up tape artifacts, not much needs to be done. Besides, many older movies were on 35 / 70 mm film stock, and was relatively easy to convert to digital.
Converting to 3D OTOH, requires much more work to give the illusion of depth - basically separating into layers - like a 8-layer sponge :-0)

You can even to a pseudo 2D to 3D conversion for your own home movies and photos. A google search will bring plenty of hits.

You will need to make your own funny glasses though - there are two basic types - the red / green, and the amber / blue.

My thoughts are no longer my own and is probably representative of our media-controlled government
