Handle9: Harvey Norman's list prices are a joke. They're there to sucker people into thinking that they're getting a good deal. The way you get a deal is that you tell them that JB Hifi will do the speakers and amp for $1750. Doesn't matter whether they will or not, most of the time they will price match on the spot.


i'm not too sure about that. firstly they're RRP. and sometimes a bit below manufacturer's RRP. on many occasions i've been to noel leeming, specialist vacuum shops (godfrey), etc etc and HN's list price is cheaper.

i think what's happening is that kiwis have finally understood the concept of discounts and therefore set the standard to be JB hifi for example. but i think the manufacturers are to blame too. in 2006-7 (not too long ago) you could get a pair of wharfedale opus 2 from noel leeming for $2200. guess the RRP now - $5999. inflation my A^%$ ... if only i had a time machine ...
