Giggles: Well I found the time (as you do for toys) and managed to insert the first frequency you gave me - Frequency:530000,8,MHEG5 - the EPG Collector is working fine, I added no other parameters.

Also installed BSE yesterday and have managed to get them both working together and other than a small glitch with scheduling all appears OK.

Thank you guys for a great little app

My thanks to the developers for an excellent tool! Very easy to use and setup...
Unfortunately I have had trouble using it to collect any EPG info from my satellite tuners - terrestrial is fine, but satellite always gives the message 'signal not locked and signal quality not > 0'. Now I am guessing that maybe this is due to the DiSEqC switch in my setup, however other TV programs that I have used (in particular MediaPortal) seem to be able to tune to channels on "port A" without sending DiSEqC parameters. I was hoping that the EPG Collector could do the same. It seems to pick up all my tuners correctly and spends a good amount of time trying to lock (significantly longer than when locking for DVB-T), but so far has always failed. My config file is:

// DVB-T
//Output:C:\Program Files\XMLTV\TVGuide.xml
//Tuner:3
//Frequency:690000,8,MHEG5

// DVB-S
Output:C:\Program Files\XMLTV\TVGuide.xml
Tuner:1
Satellite:1600
Dish:10750000,10750000,0
Frequency:12456000,22500,3/4,H,MHEG

EPG Collector 2.0.14 gives the following output when trying to get EPG from the first satellite tuner:

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

WSI DMX522U twin output. It has a single LO frequency which is 10750MHz. You can find them on Trade Me here. The manufacturer's page is here. I have two of these plugged into a 9x8 multiswitch. Select inputs 1-4 with port A and 5-8 with port B (input 9 is a terrestrial input). Within each group of four inputs you select the first and second with 13/18V (regular polarity switching signals) and the third and fourth input with 22kHz + 13/18V...

The Collector should work fine with your setup. It doesn't support DISEqC because, as you probably know, most manufacturers haven't implemented it in a standard way with Microsoft BDA so software needs specific code for each tuner it supports and we don't have any way of testing different tuners.

Saying that there is a parameter we set when initializing a satellite tuner that may be affecting it. It will be removed in the next release (2.0.15) as it's not really needed. Wait for that release and give it another try.

If that still fails post again and I will work with you to fix the problem.

Your dish parameters look ok to me.

Steve

Hi, firstly I'd like to say EPG Collector rocks! I used 1.0.17 for several weeks and it never missed a beat. I'm using DVB-T in wgtn (kaukau).

When 2.0.14 was released I looked for a change log but could not find one - is there one? It looks like the readme was totally rewritten, so has the code also had a major rewrite?
I noticed when 2.0.14 runs the output also suggests it's doing a lot more. 1.0.17 used to take 25 seconds to get all data and finish, 2.0.14 takes 65 seconds. The slower time does not matter (I've scheduled it to run overnight so it's of no consequence), but what more does 2.0.14 do that 1.0.17 didn't?

I'll get to my main point ;-) 1.0.17 used to stitch together programs that spanned midnight, but 2.0.14 often doesn't. (I'm sure I saw some that were (I may be mistaken), but it mainly seems not to, verified by looking at the xml.) Has anyone else reported this, or is this a configuration setting I have to enable?
For the time being I have uninstalled and gone back to 1.0.17. (What am I missing out on with 2.0.14 and is there a change log?)

Keep up the great work! Cheers

Good point TimeLord! According to the readme I don't think there are any appropriate switches, but a new flag under 'Options' seems the most logical place to put a switch like that. Personally I think it is a good idea - would have saved me having a break in my recording of The Constant Gardener the other night.

By the way I just tried Options:NOSIGLOCK and that didn't help with my satellite EPG collection...

Not combining the programs is a fault in 2.0.14. It's fixed in 2.0.15. The ACCEPTBREAKS option is only applicable to broadcasters who time the programs accurately to take into account ad breaks at the beginning and end of programs. Nobody does that here in NZ. Pay TV broadcasters do it in Oz.

Does your ini file define more than one frequency - you only need one with 2.0.14. That would account for the time difference as it actually takes longer now to collect the station data.

The low level code that receives the broadcast data was rewritten and a lot of restructuring took place. This app originated in a media player that collected EPG data 24/7 rather than in a single burst and prior to 2.0.14 it still reflected that. As well as that it's now set up for us to implement all the other types of EPG that there are around (3 more in fact) which is now one of the aims of the project.

Hey Steve, thanks for the prompt reply.

Great that the program stitching issue is known and being addressed, thanks!
Yes I'd seen comments earlier in this thread about needing to scan only one frequency now... I hadn't got around to changing my ini file, so that'll explain it, cool. (I assume then that the same MHEG5 epg data is available on all frequencies?)
Thanks for the info on some of the underlying changes in 2.0.14... all very interesting :-)

Cheers!

The same MHEG5 data is present on all frequencies. EIT data is the same on all frequencies as well.

Out of the 3 protocols only OpenTV doesn't replicate the data on all frequencies, it is just broadcast on one.
