James_: Does anyone know of a program (other than bigscreen) to load xmltv file into windows 7 MC ? Just a light weight command line utility ideally.

This tool was mentioned on reven's forums often. http://code.google.com/p/xmltv2mxf/

I've used this tool successfully BUT the xmltv files have to be in exact time order or else it completely stuffs up the times and order.

The references I have tracked for FlashForward are as follows

Wed April 4 series = crid://tvnz.co.nz/1008270 episode = crid://tvnz.co.nz/10163206
Sat April 7 series = crid://tvnz.co.nz/1008270 episode = crid://tvnz.co.nz/10163206
Wed April 11 series = crid://tvnz.co.nz/1008270 episode = crid://tvnz.co.nz/10163207

I'm thinking we can just use the number on the end and take a (small) risk that TV3 for example don't go and use a number used by TV1. They are probably assigned by the individual broadcasters.

Yes freeview are following the TV Anytime api so it should be a good source of info.

Hmmm doesnt seem to work for me ... log file shows:

11:49:35:734 ============================ EPG Collector V1.0.8 ==============================

.

Notice the frequencies are not set, its simply 123456.
Once of the possible improvements is have it working or with a range of working ini files for each region in the install/.zip file.

Are you using an MPEG2 demux filter other than the Microsoft supplied one?

It's trying to add the Microsoft one to the graph at the point the log stops.

Sorry, have no idea what you just said Wink

Im using Mediaportal on Windows XP and pretty much the default settings for it to work with Freeview in NZ

My INI file for Mediaportal Tuning is

1=12456,h,22500
2=12483,h,22500

and then Mediaportal is set with the options:
LNB Low Freq : 11300
LNB Hi Freq: 0
LNB Switch Freq: 20000

PS I also tried changing the INI file

#Satellite:1600
Satellite:1779

# Dish - comment or remove whole line for terrestrial
# Param1 - LNB low band
# Param2 - LNB high band
# Param3 - LNB switch

#Dish:9750000,10750000,11700000
Dish:11300000,00000000,20000000

My fault.

EPG Collector uses DirectShow (Microsoft technology) to access the hardware and get the broadcast data. DirectShow uses a series of components called filters to receive the data and process it before passing it on to the app and one of those filters is called the MPEG2 demux.

EPG Collector expects the standard Microsoft MPEG2 demux filter to be present but there are others available (Cyberlink for example) so it may be, for whatever reason, you have one of the others. Mediaportal is intelligent enough to use whatever you have - EPG Collector isn't.

I'll look up how we can find out what you've got and get back to you. You have almost the same configuration as me except I don't run Mediaportal so we should be able to get it going.

Could it be because this is a TV Server and isnt used to watch TV itself, that occuring on the client?

Noticed a mention of this "MediaPortal Transport Stream (TS) filter" was being developed to replace the Microsoft one

Could be because it's a server but I would have though someone with a similar configuration would have already tried it.

Do you have a file called mpg2splt.ax in the windows system32 directory (or anywhere for that matter) on the machine?
