What method is out there to store DVD’s onto a computer (or a standalone device) and still be able to play by selecting the chapters?

Am talking here about homemade DVD’s – not movies or any protected stuff.

Thanks

I rip all my DVD's in ISO format. It means I get an exact copy with menus but does take more space.

I'll recommend DVD Shrink as well. Set it to copy the whole disk, with no compression and output to .iso and you'll get an exact copy.

VLC Player can play the .iso file directly, or if you want to use any other software, install a virtual DVD Program like Alcohol 52% or Daemon Tools Lite (both free, I think). Then you can mount the .iso as a virtual DVD and most of your software won't be able to tell the difference.

are you home movies already on DVD with menus etc?  you just want to copy them to pc?  if you're trying to create menus/chapters etc then a few more steps/tools might be required

OK have successfully imported a DVD to the PC via DVD Shrink – and installed VLC player but still can’t figure out how to use the DVD’s Chapters. In Playback (on the Toolbar) Chapters are “greyed” out.

Any feedback on this?

Many thanks

For some reason the chapters have now appeared – after a reboot!
