lyonrouge: 10 - 15 minutes? it took longer than that to perform the 3 cycles of client updates, then deploying to the remote, rebooting the remote, and the testing (which failed). I can only assume you had a preloaded client and remote with a DVD player and TV.

Before you throw the toys out of the cot, skipping the software install which is just something you have to do to get up and running, what seems to be the problem?

What devices do you have, and what are you having problems with specifically.

1. HDMI output switch from the receiver to the Plasma or Projector is not an available option

2. My wii (analogue) routes via the PVR, then to the Reciever, then Plasma, this is not a concept it wants to accept

3. lip sync, simply no reference of any sort

Oh, and if you have weird unusual configurations, open a ticket with Logitech. They'll have a tech build the profile you need then tell you to go ahead and sync up the remote, and it just works.

I had a TV which would stuff up if it began cycling through input devices before the receiver turned on. I sent in a ticket to Logitech and got a response within 24 hours saying "we've updated your profile. Please connect up your remote to synchronise the changes". It was totally fixed.

After sale service?!?! I never even considered that as an option.

Resolved the wii issue, added the PVR device as a post configuration option.

I've found the Logitech 0800 number very efficient and helpful, when you talk to them they know all your equipment and can run you through most things and if you are having trouble, they will set it up and you just update your remote online.

lyonrouge: 1. HDMI output switch from the receiver to the Plasma or Projector is not an available option

You mean it's not a listed device?  You can create a new device and it doesn't have to be in the list.  I've added a custom remote for a subwoofer I made which wasn't in the list.  Just go through as far as you can in the most likely category (tho even this doesn't matter really) and then train it with the actual remote you have for the device.  Those commands are then available to add at the start of activities etc.

The software is a bit naff in actually getting to the page that allows you to add events before or after an activity but once you get to that page it all behaves as you'd hope.

Is there a command for this on the existing remotes?  If there is it's a case of learning these commands manually if they don't already exist in the default database loaded for your equipment.

If there is not a command and you have to go into menus etc to enable this then you'll have to do this the hard way by hand anyway.

Hopefully the above makes sense and applies to you.  If not then post again until you get the answer from us or from logitech directly.  These are powerful remotes and you stand a far better chance of getting your system to work as you want with a Harmony than most other alternatives, in my humble opinion.

OmniouS: I bought one of these and it makes a high pitched buzzing noise whenever the backlight is on - Is this normal?

Very happy with the remote otherwise.

Yes, mine does that and it is the backlight, as I think it is a CCFL rather than LED backlighting. I think it is very good value, but it does feel like older technology. eg the LCD screen is very low resolution and the colours washed out, so it does look like an old techinology LCD screen has been used.

The reciever has two HDMI outputs, but the Harmonhy software does not cater for this. It's made more complicated because the button is a toggle and not separate "Select HDMI 1"and "Select HDMI 2" buttons, so I was relying on the remote keeping the current output state and knowing to swap only when needed.

Are there options under the device setup for discrete output commands?
Do these commands exist on your current device remote, or is it just a toggle?

For instance my Panasonic TV real remote does not have specific input commands, only a menu toggle, but the harmony remote has actual commands for specific discrete hdmi inputs.

Have a check and see if there is an output command already programmed under the receiver device.
If not then you'll have to log a service call/email to see if there is a clever way already documented to achieve this.  Some default to a certain input under certain conditions etc which can be programmed ahead to ensure the device and the remote are on the same page.

I would expect the above would happen under any universal remote, so that sort of problem is not harmony specific.

HDMI output from the reciever is toggle only, so I need the remote to be aware of current state and target state, i.e. if current state is TV and target is Projector, toggle the HDMI output, but if current state is TV and target is TV, make no change to HDMI output.

Do you know the service amail address, the contact us button on the software does not provide a direct contact (Knowledge Base and Forums).

richms: Help is a bit braindead on my 525 - it first asks if the satillite box is on - I cant tell if the TV isnt on the right input which is the usual shortcoming with it.

IR output is great, backlight is too bright and will randomly trigger at night time so I have to leave it face down or it wakes me up when lighting up beside me.

I guess turning off the tilt sensor is out of the question?  I haven't tried it, but seems like that might do the trick?  I'm guessing it lights up when you press any of the buttons in that case (say, page left/right for example).

grolschie: Maybe this might help:
http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Harmony-Remotes-Programming/Marantz-sr6004-HDMI-output/td-p/405327?nobounce

Gave it a try, may have been a feature of previous versions of the Harmony software but didn't work for 7.7.0
