Haha that's the first HN I've heard about that has a listening room.

Not for several years now.

It got knocked down and the area first became extra wall space for TVs, now its occupied by whiteware.

my local one doesn't,  and from experience I've found that even when mass market retailers (HN, NL, etc) do have 'listening rooms' they are absolutely terrible.

I would probably have burst out into dance. <3 gaga. lol. Me and mates go to stores and play Lady Gaga on the test computers sometimes. Great times.

Rollux:
...Came back with an ipod...
I asked if he had any CD's.
So he switched the amp onto the radio and stood back looking proud.
Another salesman who had seen what was happening came over with a CD.
Of Lady Gaga.
My wife and I walked out laughing.

Anyone else know what these actually sound like? I might go to another store or back there with some of my own CDs or U2 Live bluray for a decent listen.
When my sides stop hurting.

Unfortunately HN have some great products and sales at times, but in my experience the salespeople let them down something terrible 9 times out of 10.

You're trying to judge the audio quality not content.

The lady gaga cd would be ideal as it is most likely recorded using the latest audio engineering  technologies, and inside a sound recording studio. It would probably be a greater indicator of audio quality than your U2 Live bluray which has probably been recorded in less than idea conditions.

Sadly, the latest recording technologies and techniques too often assure poor quality
