Hi All,

Just wondering if any Win 7 MCE users have had this error msg come up when using media centre?

“Video Error: Files needed to display video are not installed or not working correctly. Please restart Media Centre and or restart the computer.” I have been getting the msg of late but only when watching TV3.

I have updated my graphic card drivers and this has not resolved the issue. I’m not sure if its codec related, as I am only using native mce codecs and not had any issues before.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried doing what it has asked (restarting MC and/or rebooting)?  I've got this error once or twice before and a reboot normally rectifies it...

I've had this in the past and has come down to hardware acceleration not properly working.  I've got a mobo with a 9300 (730i) chipset.  I could install the latest graphics drivers 25x whatever, but would always get that message with TV3.

I ended up going with nforce drivers for the 730i which contain real old (in comparison) graphics drivers.

Funny that the default ones that came with Win7 seemed to result in lowest CPU usage during H.264 playback, but sadly needed the functionality of the nVidia control panel etc...

Try going back a few revisions of drivers and see - I'm presuming that the 8400GS does support H.264 acceleration???
