Spotted this cool unit while in DSE today

Finally manufacturers are realising people want something that looks like a VCR or DVD player and not a big noise ATX PC case sitting next to their TV!

Don't you hate Dick Smith's website? Their URL seems to be dynamic - very. The address you gave here doesn't go to a product anymore.

These are some Windows Media Center PCs available here in New Zealand. I took these pictures in Auckland, during a meeting at Microsoft to introduce this to the press (I was presenting the Windows Mobile-based Portable Media Center at the meeting):

After having a good play with the Gigabyte box I've decided I want one but don't necessarily want to pay $1500 - I know there are a few people on here with their own home built boxes so I'm after some comments on software. Everybody seems to talk about MythTV but what other software is worth checking out?

MythTV is nice if you have the know how to configure a linux box (tho releases such as KnoppMyth make things a bit easier). If you have a windows xp pro box, the I would highly recommend looking at Media Portal . Is is open source (free!!) and highly configurable. The latest CVS builds are very fast and stable. Also worth looking at:
- gbpvr (free)
- SageTV
- Meedio

Did Microsoft mention anything about the EPG issue? Or lack thereof?
