mm1352000: If it isn't 1 then check that you haven't got an AV scanning your timeshifting and recording folders.

To be extremely clear: if the corruption is logged in TsReader logs then this is a *source* problem, not a rendering (video driver, codec etc.) problem.

Yes, your point about the TSReader logs indicating a source problem back up my findings so far. This could also be caused by a tuner driver issue.

@SamF: This thread may be of interest to you. They seem to imply that the TD-500 can't handle our high bandwidth channels. Unfortunately Hauppauge seem to have a habit of deleting threads so the thread linked in the first post is gone. I'm sure if you ask they will be able to give you more information though.

Its not so much the channels themselves, but the entire bitrate of the mux. We use a slightly different code rate / guard / fft here in NZ, resulting in a higher DVB-T mux bitrate than other countries:

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Interesting that this issue seems to only manifest itself in Win7! Strange that everything works fine in XP, it's the same hardware!

What a pain that the first linked thread is gone! Does anyone know what the guts of the thread were?

EDIT: Hmm, interesting, I just found this page which was linked to from an official FAQ (Point 5). Sounds like what we're seeing!

Those threads linked in mm135200's post refer to a specific issue that only affect the Nova-TD devices. If you're having an issue with an HVR-2200, it'll be something else. I've got every revision HVR-2200 and they all work fine with our DVB-T system in NZ.

7.9.1.29186 dated 5/7/2011. Pretty sure that was the most recent available when I rebuilt this system at the beginning of the month.

smac, I just had a thought that perhaps the revision of your Hauppauge HVR2200 is different to my brother's (might even use slightly different drivers), and this might be why his works and yours doesn't... Also, are you in a position to be able to run up a temporary WinXP install to see if the issue goes away?

Sorry just saw this. No I've got no way of flicking over to XP sorry. Other than the HTPC this has been a linux house for a loong time.

Just an update on my progress.

I may have had two issues going on here.

During my PC rebuild I added the Avermedia tuner card and added a signal splitter to get the signal to both cards.

Swapping out the ATI card for the Nvidia made a big improvement to how the video behaved when skipping through a recording or pause buffer. Skipping is almost flawless with the Nvidia where it pixelated and stuttered with the ATI when skipping.

I didn't see any stuttering/pixelation at all yesterday. and it may be my imagination but I think I saw an improvement to the smoothness of the video after updating the motherboard BIOS.

However today shortly after starting to watch TV there was a heavy rain shower and the picture and audio were pausing and pixelating during the heavy rain. Now that the rain has stopped TV is back to normal.

Even though the Hauppauge signal meter is showing good signal and no errors it looks like I may have a signal issue.

Also Last night I had a media centre error saying that there was an error with the program guide. All the guide data was lost. Media centre also stopped a couple of times.

Today when I started media centre the preferred tuner order of most of my channels had been lost. Some channels had the Satellite as the preferred tuner. I suspect it had reverted to the original default order after the initial channel scan.

When I first did the channel search I ended up with 6 merged sources for each UHF channel (2 UHF tuners).
The 4 unwanted sources are 167kHZ each side of the correct frequency. eg TV3 is 562Mhz, the extra sources are 561.833 & 562.167Mhz for each tuner card. I some cases the off frequency sources were enabled and the on-frequency sources were undelected.

Does anyone know how to remove unwanted channels from the list completely? I can remove them from the merged source but can't delete them from my channel list

Some other strange behaviour yesterday was that I had two recordings for every scheduled program. My preferences are to start 5 minutes before and always record 10 minutes after. I ended up with a 10 minute recording and a second recording for the rest of the program. Daft?

I'm running it too... Did you figure out which option to use? UK or Aussie? Or do we have to specify a frequency down here in NZ? I'm not even sure where to find out the frequencies!...

I've used the scanchannels utility before.

At the start if you select number 6, you can then enter the particular frequency for MUX you want to scan, then for bandwidth put 8. This then gives you real time, ongoing signal strength meter for that MUX, rather than just checking every frequency once and putting it into a file.

I'm in Christchurch so the frequencies I need are 682000, 698000, and 706000. Don't know where you guys are for the frequencies you would need.
