Hi There!

I have an AC Ryan Mini HD 2 and I really don't like it. I bought it as an upgrade to my WD TV Live HD which was ok, but the networking was unreliable.

I am connecting wireless (N) to a WAP which is 5M away through a wall.

What I want:

Excellent Interface
Good Support/community
Excellent Compatibility with Media

Doesn't need built in storage, I can use USB Sticks if I require.

Beefs with the HD2

1) No networking Troubleshooting (Doesn't show signal strength or speed)
2) Unreliable speed reports (says it's streaming at 1Mbit on Gigabit) and support have told me it's a bug with a low priority fix likelyhood
3) Interface is slow and clumsy

Mostly I play Divx/Xvid/MKV and other 720P media (Yes I know wireless isn't ideal)

Any recommendations?

if you're just going to be doing 720p and you have HDMI i would go for a ATV2 running XBMC.

Odd that you had networking trouble with the WD Live that the AC Ryan replaced, as I haven't had a problem even over wireless. WD is pretty good with ongoing support, and have released quite a few firmware updates to address issues and requests flagged by their user base. Before you spend more money replacing the Ryan, I would suggest dusting off the WD and updating it to the latest firmware. WD may have solved whatever problem you were having.
