I have been thinking about getting a Bluray Player and wondering if anyone has used a Samsung BD-D5500.

My only reason for picking that one is that i have a Samsung plasma and would like to keep them the same so i can use the same remore etc.

the 3D is not essential and my tv does not currently have 3D (I have read that you can unlock 3D from a menu, but it sounds unlikely the stuff to sync the glasses would be there. )

I like the look of the BD-D6500 the most but no stores seem to have them.

Go to Amazon.com and look at the buyer reviews for the Samsung BD-D5500 and D6500. I would not buy a Samsung BD player.

Make sure whatever you buy is region-freed for DVDs or can be.

Region-freeing for BDs is harder. The Toshibas are said to be able to do that

Many player remotes can be switched to use with different brand TVs. There would be instructions in the manual if it is possible.
