bodysoda: Drum roll!! I received my Raspberrypi which I ordered through element14 on Feb 29. I am super excited to open the box.

So how are you getting on with it?  Is it working?  What have you done with it so far?  Share the joy.

I'm curious, will likely end up ordering mine soon, but as a newbie programmer, what kind of fun (languages) can I play with on the Pi?

3 weeks wait.

floydbloke: Snippet from the latest update on the website:
raspberrypi.org: By early next week all 110,000 customers who have ordered with element14, wherever they are in the world, will receive a confirmed delivery date ( which, as previously communicated, will be no later than the end of June for those who ordered before April 18th) .

Hmm, I ordered on 26 March and haven't heard anything around dates...

I also got an email from RS overnight so placed an order too, same 3 week lead time.  I didn't 'register interest' with them until 18 March.  This suggests to me that production has ramped up pretty well and they should be able to clear backlogs fairly well.  If both RS and Element14 are being straight up about their eta's that  means that in a month's time I should be the proud owner of 2 Pi's.

For those who haven't heard back about their Element14 orders, there is a woman called Jenny representing them on the RaspberryPi.org forums/blogs who seems to be very responsive.  It would appear she can give more conclusive answers to order queries that an Aus/NZ email or phone contact.  Might be worth a try if you want to follow up.

Got it last week. OpenELEC kinds of works, it's kind of laggy though. Will try Raspbmc and see how it goes.

I mixed up ordering and registration. I registered on 26/3 so hopefully I'll get an order email soon :)

Hi,

Just out of interest what are people planning to do with their Raspberry Pi?

I have seen some comments about people using it as a media player hooked up to a server or other PC, others are talking about using them to learn programming and I think this is inline with the original intention of the makers.

Just curious really.

Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?
