just tried powering it through the USB on the tv at work (about a 3 year old LG), it couldnt power it.

so looks like not all TVs can power it, so diff work taking along to a jbhifi when buying a new tv to see if it can power it :) (2 out of 3 tvs ive tried worked so far)

anyone tried a pulse-eight motorola nyxboard remote with their pi?

im thinking about getting one, since CEC isn't work yet (and even when it does the keys it can receive from the tv are very limited). it also uses RF for xbmc, so i wont need to strap a IR receiver to my tv, just plug in the dongle and off we go... hopefully.

got mine earlier in the week. Have found this build with  xbmc
https://rpi-developers.com/frs/?group_id=10

to work a bit better (plugins install, most video plays without stuttering) compared to the current raspbmc builds I've tried. YMMV

I know it's just an addition to the basic Debian image but works for me. Was able to control from ipod touch and android phone remote apps.

now to get HD HomeRun working...,

Few hours of blood, sweat and tears in there by the looks, let alone the $$$ investment.

Seriously though, it's a good idea which I have no qualms in stealing from you.

I can't wait for mine to arrive but you've given me an idea. I wonder if a modified 2.5 hdd case would work. Some are plastic now so it should be cheap and easy to modify.

Co-incidentally, I found modmypi.com after I posted the above.  I'm going to order one from them.
The cost of the materials would be quite prohibitive to make my own (think 4-5 times the cost).

I might make one later on if I feel creative enough :)

Good to hear you're up and running, and hope Element14 are cooperating with your RA.

Out of interest, when did you place your order with RS, and did you receive a notification from them to say it had shipped?

modmypi.com seems to have a shop open now, but they now have "ex tax" on the cases, basically doubling their price....

Are they still available? Looking at websites all over the place and all you can do is register interest.
