floydbloke:
dolsen: Received an update on my one from element14.
Estimated Delivery W/C 12/03/2012.

This was for one that was ordered quite late due to wasting my time trying to use my old account (had to create a new account).

Given that they have only just started deliveries in the UK a few days ago I'm assuming that you didn't quite get yours on 12/3, but have you had any updates with a new ETA or even a confirmed delivery date? (Here's hoping they aren't using Amercian date format.)

Still the only thing I have is a confirmation email they sent straight after I ordered, not a peep from them since.  Made none the wiser by checking my order status on their website, just says back-order.  At least it's still in the system.

Same here, although I haven't bothered checking the system for my order status.

I imagine one day it will just turn up, should be fairly soon as the expect to have most of the back order shipped by the end of the month. Seen as sales went live at around 5am UK time I like to think I was in the first few thousand orders anyway.

BigGuy:
floydbloke: It has now passed all tests, including C-Tick, so once the paperwork is sorted (which seems fairly minimal) RS and Element14 can start production.

I also came across this, seems that one CE is not necessarily like the other:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:CE_marks.jpg

Is there nothing that the Chinese wont rip off?

I can understand why this practice may have been done.  It potentially gets products that may not have gone through the proper process in to use under a mistaken identity.

I personally think that the CE mark is a waste of time and can be confusing.  I trust something that has the C-Tick far more as it carries more relevance here.

Roll on the Pi's :)

True story - Chinese supplier when pressured for certification paperwork tries to convince the buyer CE stands for China Export... Bahahahaha yeah right, well in this case that was about the closest thing to the truth

That's promising news.  I'm not in a huge hurry for it but it'll be a fun toy for the winter months.

Thanks for explaining "plethora".

It means a lot.

I ordered mine from Element14 NZ at 18:39 on the first day. I gave them a poke last Tuesday to see if they could give me any better info than "back order 143 days" and their Australian office came back with:

"Due to additional testing and compliance checks the lead time for the Raspberry PI has been extended. The first batch however arrived in the UK last week and customers who will receive their Raspberry PI from this first batch will be contacted early next week with their delivery date. The second batch is expected to arrive in May."

It's too much to hope that ordering after 39 minutes got me into the first batch, but I can't wait to see it...

Just reading the forums on raspberrypi.org, some Australians have started receiving theirs.  Seems they all ordered within half an hour or so after launch, you could be in luck.  I didn't order mine until after 21:30 so a few more weeks for me to wait I expect.

My CC still hasn't been charged so I assume from that I won't be getting mine in this batch.

Also, did you get a "dispatch confirmation" email beforehand, or did it just randomly turn up unannounced?

My CC got charged after the delivery. I have never seen any supplier who charge the CC after the delivery. So for this Element14 gets BIG THUMBS up!!!

I have been constant touch with call centre and via email asking when will be the delivery. They send me email yesterday saying its on its way.  So pickup the phone and call them with your reference number.
