Jazsaxman:

Has anyone else noticed lines of static across the top 1/3 of the sky guide page since the upgrade? Was hoping it might have been temporary but its stuck around.

What model decoder do you have? I am still waiting for my Pace 230 to be upgraded.

The 335-4. Its been there since the upgrade happened 1mth ago. I can live with it but I was wondering if it was just an isolated problem.

cheers

"Any installations which still have a single LNB but have downloaded 0340 / A340 will remain set to Tone Use - None, and will continue to function normally.

However, this will need to be changed manually to Satellite/LNB Switching if and when a single LNB is replaced with a dual in the future. "

Hi, I was looking at moving my decoder to another house but I plugged it in and all I got was a rain fade signal. I checked signal strength and it was around 65 with zero quality. I got a signal detector and checked the dish for alignment and it was fine. I tried the decoder at a friends house where he ahs Sky Digital running with the same error.

I found this thread above and was wondering if I have to select the LNB to Tone Use - None and the frequency. When I go to do this it comes up with a warning that I am about to change my LNB settings and may lose signal. Should I continue?? How can I check that the dish at my new house is operating a single LNB???

thanks in advance

You need to determine which LNB you have fitted, is it a single throat LNB or one of the newer dual throat ones. The former have a round radome cover whilst the latter has a oval cover and appears somewhat fatter, essentially it has two heads.

Once determined set the Satellite/LNB switching such that the low band LO frequency is set to 11300 for the single throat, or 10750 for the dual throat. Select 11800 for the highband option (could be anything as this is not used) and select Optus C1 156deg for the optional orbit location for 22kHz switching enable, this should be the only option offered.

Once done get out and it should be all working.

The critical thing is Low Band LO setting for single LNB = 11300, and dual LNB = 10750.

Oh and the first thing you will be asked is to turn LNB power on, select yes.

My Pace 230 was upgraded to firmware version 340 overnight. Component video is now available.

OK - stupid question - maybe -- I have a Pace 230 and have my SCART-to-component adaptor from Dick Smiths all ready to go, however I've just had a thought that the adaptor does not have any audio out sockets. To the best of my memory there are no audio-out connectors on the back of the box, just 2x SCART (unless I'm wrong) - so how does one get sound with component out?

Also I remember seeing earlier in this thread that apparently Sky will supply cables upon request, can anyone confim this?

Thanks

Steve

Gahhrrr now I have to find a decent component video switcher because I only have one component input on my panel =)
Yay for sky as a holdover until Freeview HD!  (we can live in hope)

Sky will provide cables that give audio aswell as component from the SCART if you ask, Jaycar also have a cable for around $49 that has both component and audio, search back through this thread for the jaycar product codes.

Hey all,

Following up on my visual probs with the program guide, I installed a Belkin surge protector thingy and ran the cable through it and the problem went away.

Sounds like you have an earth loop issue with your setup.

-Which cable did you run though the surge protector?
-Is all your equipment on one power point in one place?
- Do you run the RF feed off to other TVs?
-Do you have more than one Sky STB or FTA STB.

Hmmm funny, I replied yesterday but it didnt come through.

Everything is going through the Belkin 8 plug. Straight away I noticed a big reduction in background noise. Also, when i plugged a dodgy standard lamp in to the power point on the other side of the room I didnt get the noise that I usually get.

I dont mind if I cant track down the video prob cause its working now and if it aint broke dont touch it lol

Cheers

Steve

Finally got the Component video after F/W 340 was loaded onto my Pace 230, but the Pace had intermittant probs with the remote (was the box not the remote, and the second Pace unit with similar fault). The Sky said he had seen it before and swapped it for a Motorola DTH 335. Everything goes well EXCEPT the component out (and the SVideo for that matter) picture quality is Krap! Almost like watching through a soft filter except it has some ghosting on sharp edges. Anyone else seen this from the 335 or on any other Sky STB? I have been through the settings and cant see anything helpful on either the TV or the STB. I am using the supplied Sky component video cable. Thought I would ask here first before getting Sky back for the 4th time.

I got the same problem with DTH335 and stock SCART to component cable. There are two options under component setting: s-video and composite, I tried both but no difference.
I believe there is something to do with the cable interference.
