kind greetings to all from howick, auckland.

i love and need new technolgy to contact my sons who work overseas.  recently, they have children of their own, and this grandpa just want to know the latest and of course the cheapest way to communicate with them.

so to all the gurus here, please be generous to my questions which i even find them silly on hind sight.

have a pleasant day!

Welcome to Geekzone!

Sounds like you need a webcam, and a USB phone to use with Skype or Windows Live Messenger!! - Gotta be the simplest way to get free global communications - video, calling, instant messaging - either platform will do both great!

As long as each person has a PC and broadband, a USB phone can be had for around $35NZD, and the same for a webcam. The rest is free.
