Neither labels bother me. Although I find the former is generally handed out these days as a compliment, whereas the latter can still be used more as a "You're smarter than me, and I find that threatening, so I'm gonna throw a label at you that I think makes me look cooler than you". The truth is that society has now accepted that "Nerds" come from all walks of life, and I don't see the label having the same punch that it once had.

In JayJays, I see so many shirts with stereotypical "geek glasses" and stuff about how geeky and nerdy they are. Asked the specs of their computer to one of the shopgirls wearing it (okay, my grammar is shot) and she looked at me like, "huh?" Oh well :/

Welcome! I'm also a 3D artist, what kind of animation are you looking to produce?

I wouldn't recommend Blender for beginners. I found the UI took a long time to become familiar with.
Try a 30 day trial of 3Ds Max:
