Are they really that high in demand or does Microsoft just not care about NZ enough to bother supplying us with any stock.

I went into Harvey Normans again today, after being told they were expecting a shipment late Feb, to now being told that shipment is coming late March....

How do they expect to sell any if they don't supply any to sell??

Any good alternatives to the Surface Pro 2?

Thanks, I've just been looking for it as a personal purchase at this point and have already been in contact with TTS, NewEra and Cyclone.
TTS  seeming to only have supply of the older units with the i5-4200U. I called Cyclone today and they say they only can get stock of the 256GB model - which I'm considering, but might be a bit overkill for my needs and I never heard back from NewEraIT.

As I work in a school it was also going to act as kind of ambassador for Windows tablets in the school (we already have a range of Chromebook / iPads ) so I might at some stage take you up on your evaluation offer.

Just looking at the Toshiba and Dell, the Toshiba is well outside my price range and the cheaper one is a bit low spec. Part of the appeal of the Surface for me was the inclusion of the Wacom stylus to inspire me to get back into my drawing, and the Dell stylus seems a bit flunky from the reviews.

Pretty sure it is not just NZ, there are supply constraints worldwide apparently (that's the guff from some salespeople in retail stores).

New model coming?? They don't know, but it is good scuttlebutt to start.

We have an order in for work through JB Hifi (commercial? not sure) at the moment for the 256GB storage/8GB RAM units. Were supposed to have been here around Christmas, then in January, Then at the end of Feb, now... who knows. If the OP is saying late March, I would believe it. They seem to be like unicorn poop at this point.

If you have a choice, maybe the Vaio Tap 11 could be a good one to look at.

I ordered the 256GB model from Harvey Norman on 27th Feb 2014

They are not sure when it will arrive, and mentioned they would contact me 15 days after the order was placed.

I talked to JBHifi and got a very similar message from them, in that they do not know when stock will arrive.

Hopefully MS can manufacture more, I don't want to wait months for this thing.

If anyone is looking for a Surface Pro 2, I have an 8GB/256 model available,  As new condition, barely used.  It's the newer, slightly faster model.  I'm in the Wellington region.

Any reasonable offer considered, PM me.
