Hi Everyone,

Hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction.

Yesterday the screen on my laptop suddenly stopped working. The power button is lit, as is the wifi indicator on the F12 key. I can also hear the machine working (fan or maybe HDD?) but the screen remains black.

I've tried cycling power on/off a few times, removed the battery and replacing before restarting and also removing the battery and trying to power on only with the AC adapter (read somewhere this may constitute a "hard reset") but still no joy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone,

hi, have you tried connecting an external screen or TV (as it probably has HDMI) - that way you can see if its it the screen or the laptop that is the issue! -:

Hi there, thanks for the response.

Unfortunately that doesnt work either.

For what its worth, I've tried all the steps outlined in the below link without any luck.

1) Hard reset
2) Connect to external monitor
3) Reset and update Bios - although to be fair, I cant be sure the instructions are accurate for my machine because without a display, it's a "blind" attempt.
4) Re-seat RAM module

Hopefully someone has another idea before I resort to taking in for repair.

Thanks again

I'd probably open it up and check all the ribbon connectors are hard in place, but that's probably for a technician to do. Take it in.
