My laptop (Toshiba Portege) power supply makes a high pitched un pleasant (almost painful) whistling noise whenever it is powered on and connected to the laptop.

If I unplug it from the laptop it stops, but obviously this isn't sustainable all day.

Anyone know a fix?

Machine is out of warranty.

Sounds like something funny going on in PSU land, had a similar thing with a Dell laptop, was in extended warranty, low level electrical hum, told Dell that I wasn't happy with it and had a replacement on my doorstep the next day.

The good laptop power supplies are pretty easy to find as xpd says, just replace it.
