I'm looking for a new laptop battery - my laptop is old and is HP.

I'm looking online to see if I can still buy one but am not sure what to look for?

I've looked for HP batteries here but don't know what will fit: http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=c&p=notebook_batteries

I googled a number on the battery and found this

Do you know what your laptop model number is? Just search for "HP xxxx battery" - you can try Trademe or maybe laptopbattery.co.nz

Cool, so just search c700 battery on Trademe. There's a lot of listings and they look quite cheap :)

I recently had to buy a laptop battery for my older Dell laptop and found googling something along the lines of your laptop model with laptop will give you several places to buy from online.  Although these places are selling new batteries and the battery worked well I would suggest trying to get a genuine one from HP as although it will be more expensive it will most likely last a lot longer than any of these other new batteries ours worked fine for a month or so and now only holds charge for about 45 - 60 mins and even less when watching a video.

For me though I am not interested in using the laptop plugged in and the battery replacement was more about the ability to take it from room to room without it turning off which it does very well so for us the cheap batteries are fine.

edit.....

That should read I'm only interested in using it plugged in.

Our power cable is still stuffed - I wondered if I just used it plugged in.

What's the connection called?

The mains or dc plug? The plug on the mains cable is commonly called a clover leaf plug, for which recently HP released a product recall on some models.

Can you also post the HP part numbers for your laptop and battery?
