So with windows 8.1 is would only be around 10 seconds startup/wake up with a HDD? That would probably mean she wouldn't need an SSD...

I use a Chrome Extension called Tab Suspender, it works wonders on having 20+ tabs open. 


Thanks I'll give it a look! Does it take longer once you go back to the tabs?

Yes but it's fairly quick to reload them. you can choose the timeout as well, and tabs that you have pinned do not get suspended, I tend to pin Gmail, Feedly and sometimes Facebook and just let the rest of my tabs suspend.
