I recently acquired an adapter that is a small, right-angle micro-usb B male/female .... ostensibly to connect my keyboard to my tablet and have the cable parallel to the exposed edge, and therefore not poking outwards and liable to get caught on something.  Also keeps the thin. fine cable in a straight line.

However, it doesn't work with the keyboard .... by that I mean using the adapter with the charger or an external drive it works fine, just not the keyboard.

Any ideas why?  Looks to be standard 5-wire beastie.

It might only have the power pins connected and not the data pins.  That would be a little annoying given the 0.5c worth of wire they would have saved.

EDIT:  Sorry Rickles - I should have read your post more carefully.

That seems unlikely if the external drive works.

My apologies, the adapter doesn't work for mounting external drives, either hard or flash ... I was sure I'd seen the drive light flicker when I tested previously, but it may have been the Gin and Tonic at work instead sealed

Even tried using an OTG cable too.

Looks like it is a 'power-charge adapter' only after all .... bugger !!
