Got a yoga 3 pro, mainly used by a writer/illustrator, in the New Year.  It had a fault and his been in repair for nearly six weeks now (another story), so is time for the refund/replacement.

Any recommendations?  Needs to be under 2k, and very light, with decent battery life.

Detachable not really an option due to the weight balance - used for lots of typing on knee or otherwise not at a desk.

Stylus would be nice to have but not essential..

High performance not too important, the Core M in the Yoga 3 was enough.

Did you try the Surface Pro 4 core M model

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how well the new keyboard works on knees. I do it for several hours every day.

Thanks Nathan, will give that a try in JB Hifi and see how it feels.

Hope you are enjoying Seattle :)

thanks!  loving it.

we'd love to hear your feedback about it.

to be fair there's probably 2 things I don't like, and pretty minor

  • when you wear shorts, sometime the little metal feet on the kickstand dig into your legs slightly
  • if you lay on the couch and have the device on your chest, its not quite as good as a clamshell

but personally (maybe I drunk the koolaid too much) those tradeoffs are so minor compared to the flexibility the design provides.  Also I love the fact that when I'm using SP3/SP4 on my chest or in my lap, the heat, WiFi signal, electromagnetic signal etc is all much much further away from my vital parts compared to a clamshell where everything is in the keyboard.
