Hi tonight our lap top decided to not turn on, the caps button flash every 3 seconds , there are soo many forums but not many solutions I have cleaned fans and cooled it down any suggestions of how to get it started I can't even put it in safe mode screen is black can hear fan running but nothing on screen, any help would be awsum

I had the same issue with my Elitebook. Turns out it didn't like one of the sticks of RAM.

 

If you have more than one in the Envy, try one at a time or swap them around.

Just redid that hard reset worked this time thanks guys, didnt want to have to get another one , should last mroe than 4 years or i guess thats standard now

The CPU could need reseating and new thermal paste.

Four years for a consumer laptop isn't too bad, tho the Envy's are usually pretty good

Look up the manual for that machine. Maybe it will have firmware codes. Most do.

well left  it over night after switching the ram places around and seems to have come right, i feel this tempoaray  though knowing my luck

one blink points to the cpu

 

could be anything from the cpu itself to the power regulator.

its finally died brought a new one in the end , thanks for all the suggestions might see if I can get it working just to get everything off it
