Whats the best way to store a laptop and its battery for 4 months.

Halfish full is recommended for lithiums by many places but for that short duration I would just make sure it's not so low that it may self discharge into the region where the protection kicks in.

Dynamic:

 

half to three quarters full.  remove the battery if you can.

 

 

unless you check with a multimeter, there is now way to tell when you are at the recommended storage voltage
so its a best guess & hope that when Win says 1/2 full its accurate smile

Just charge the batt up, remove that batt pack & keep it somewhere cool .
4months fully charged wont hurt it .

 

Its being left discharged that is worse (in theory)
