I am postponing getting a new machine; I have no disk capacity issues, but I want a faster disk. Machine always seems to be waiting on its 4000rpm disk. Would like 100Gb-ish, am not worried about power/battery issues, don't use battery much, but I want something (obviously) fast, and quiet.

Suggestions? Advice? .....Thanks!

From what I've read the Hitatchi TravelStar 200GB is supposed to be one of the best out there. Dell were putting them in their XPC's at one stage..

I'm going to be putting one in my new laptop (an upgrade from 5400rpm) :)

Relatively cheap as well: http://www.pricespy.co.nz/pno_11382.html

Note that it is a SATA drive... and that they come in 100, 160 varieties also.

Thanks! Sounds good. Have read up about SATA, see it has faster transfer speeds than ATA as well. I might do the same...take the new one to a machine later.

Cheers.
