Just having a quick look around at ram prices, I'm leaning towards purchasing the HP Victus but ehhhh not sure

Anyway, I see PB Tech has an HP 8GB Ram stick for $200 or so, but also other brands such as Adata/Kingston etc for $40 or so, would I have to purchase the HP branded one or is one of the $30/$40 ones fine? What's the difference?

Just a bump on the above question ^

Also, is it better to put a new Ram Stick into a brand new laptop before it goes on for the first time, or should I set it up first and get it going, then put the other ram stick in?

Thanks!

I would make sure it turns on etc. to check there aren't any hardware issues "out of the box".

Otherwise if it's DOA the retailer will try to tell you that you broke it whilst putting the RAM in.
