I really want a laptop charger that will plug into the outlet in my car. My laptop is a HP Pavillion DV-300

I would rather buy one somewhere i can drive to than online because I am going on holiday soon and would like it as soon as possible!

How can i tell what type of charger my laptop needs?

I would probably recommend a inverter to normal 3pin power plug from Car 12v output,

DSE stock these, That way you can plug any device into them and the chances are it will be cheaper than finding a power adaptor for your model laptop

You could try someone like laptop.co.nz.

Some of the cheaper inverters can cause distortion on electronic equipment, like an audio hum, or even distorted video. Just something to look out for if you buy it, maybe test it before taking it away.

If you know the input volt and amp of your laptop, along with the pin size you require there are various locations to buy the car chargers from (including me - lol! - I sell the universal car and the universal car/mains chargers on Trademe - nb. universal is only the case if you have the right pin and your laptop doesn't require more than x amount of volts or amps). That said, if you don't know the specs of your laptop www.laptopbattery.co.nz has a good list of most laptops and which laptop specifications they require.
